# Quick Login: Sign In with Google or Apple

How Solflare Quick Login works: social login with Google or Apple, an encrypted cloud backup of your recovery phrase, and what happens if you lose access.

Quick Login is Solflare's social login. It lets you create, back up and restore a self-custody Solflare wallet by signing in with your Google or Apple account, instead of writing down a recovery phrase yourself. Your recovery phrase is encrypted on your device before it is backed up, and Solflare never receives or stores a readable copy of it.

Quick Login is optional. You can always create or import a wallet with a recovery phrase instead, and a Quick Login wallet still has a recovery phrase you can reveal and write down.

#### Where Quick Login works

* **Google:** iOS, Android, and the Solflare browser extension.
* **Apple:** iPhone (iOS) only.

#### How Quick Login keeps your recovery phrase safe

Quick Login splits trust so that no single party can open your backup, including Solflare and your cloud provider.

1. Your recovery phrase is encrypted on your device with its own random key. That key is never derived from your passcode.
2. Shamir's Secret Sharing splits the key into three parts. Any two parts can rebuild the key; one part alone rebuilds nothing.
3. One part stays on your device. One part is stored in your own Google Drive or iCloud, alongside the encrypted backup. One part is held by Solflare.
4. The encrypted backup is kept in the private app-data area of your cloud account, not in your regular Drive or iCloud files.

The backup bundles your recovery phrases, private keys, and your wallet order, names, and backgrounds, so everything comes back in sync on a new device. Hardware wallets such as Solflare Shield, Ledger, and Keystone are not included and must be reconnected on each device.

Solflare's servers store only your sign-in details (provider, account ID and email), one encrypted key part, and a record used to check your passcode without storing the passcode itself. None of this is your recovery phrase, and none of it is enough to rebuild your wallet. #### What happens if something is breached

* **Someone copies your cloud files.** They get the encrypted backup and one key part, which isn't enough to open it or test passcode guesses offline.
* **Solflare's database is breached.** The attacker gets one key part and account records, not your backup or your phrase.
* **Someone takes over your Google or Apple account.** They could try to sign in to Solflare, but passcode guesses are rate-limited, with a longer wait after each wrong attempt. Protect your Google or Apple account with a strong password and two-factor authentication.

#### Your passcode

Quick Login uses a 6-digit passcode, the same one on every device where Quick Login is on. On the browser extension, turning on Quick Login replaces your extension password with this passcode. Solflare cannot look up or reset your passcode because it never has it.

#### Set up Quick Login

* **New wallet:** choose Google or Apple when you create a wallet. See [Generate a New Wallet on mobile](/solflare/onboarding/mobile/generate-a-new-wallet.md) or [in the browser extension](/solflare/onboarding/web-app-and-extensions/how-to-create-a-new-wallet.md).
* **Existing wallet:** go to **Settings → Security & Privacy → Quick Login**, choose Google or Apple, sign in, allow cloud access, and confirm with your passcode. Wallets already on your device are added to the backup.

#### Restore a Quick Login wallet on a new device

Choose **Import existing wallet**, select Google or Apple, sign in with the same account, and enter your passcode. On a new device, Solflare restores everything in your backup. On a device that already has a wallet, the backup is added to it. See [Import or restore a wallet with Quick Login](https://help.solflare.com/en/articles/16944012).

#### If you are signed out or lose cloud access

Your wallet keeps working on your device. To sign back in, choose **Import existing wallet**, sign in with your Google or Apple account, allow cloud access, and enter your passcode. If you removed Solflare's access to Google Drive or iCloud, select **Reconnect** when prompted. Reconnecting merges your device and your backup, and no wallets are lost. See [Reconnect Quick Login](https://help.solflare.com/en/articles/16944033).

#### Switch or turn off Quick Login

* **Switch account:** Go to **Settings → Security & Privacy → Quick Login**, open the three-dot menu, choose **Switch account**, enter your passcode, and sign in with the new Google or Apple account. The old account can no longer sign in to this wallet.
* **Turn off:** In the same menu, choose **Disconnect account** and type your passcode (biometrics are not accepted for this). Disconnecting is permanent. Your cloud backup and Solflare's key part are deleted, so the backup can never be rebuilt, and Quick Login is turned off on other devices using the same account. Your wallet stays usable on this device. **Reveal and write down your recovery phrases before you turn off Quick Login.**

#### What Quick Login cannot recover

If you lose access to both your Google or Apple account and your passcode, Solflare cannot recover your wallet. That is what keeps Quick Login self-custodial. For a second line of defense, reveal your recovery phrase in Settings and store it on paper as well. See [Back Up and Recover Your Recovery Phrase](https://docs.solflare.com/solflare/security/recover-your-recovery-phrase).
