# Official Links and How to Avoid Fakes

The official Solflare websites, app and extension downloads, social channels and support, plus the warning signs of fake Solflare sites, apps and messages.

The only official Solflare websites are **solflare.com** and its subdomains, such as **help.solflare.com** and **docs.solflare.com**. Download Solflare only through the links on this page or on the [Solflare download page](https://www.solflare.com/download/). Solflare will never ask for your recovery phrase, and once your wallet is set up, the Solflare app and extension never ask you to type it again.

If anyone asks for your recovery phrase or private key, whether a website, an app, a message or a person claiming to be Solflare support, it is a scam. Solflare support never asks for it.

* **shop.solflare.com**: the official Solflare shop.

Always check the address bar before you connect a wallet or sign anything. Lookalike domains with extra words, swapped letters, or a different ending are not Solflare.

* **Browser extension:** install Solflare from the [Chrome Web Store](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/solflare-wallet/bhhhlbepdkbapadjdnnojkbgioiodbic?utm_source=docs.solflare.com\&utm_medium=referral\&utm_campaign=gitbook_official_links), or find the official version for Brave, Edge, Firefox, Opera, or Arc on the [Solflare download page](https://www.solflare.com/download/).

Before installing, check that the store listing's developer is Solflare. Fake wallet apps copy the name and logo to steal recovery phrases as soon as you set them up.

Solflare staff will not message you first to offer help, and real support happens through the Help Center or the [contact page](https://www.solflare.com/contact/), not in direct messages.

#### Warning signs of a Solflare scam

Scammers often impersonate support teams or create fake websites to get access to wallets. Watch for:

* **Requests for secrets:** Someone asks for your recovery phrase, private key, or wallet passcode.
* **Wallet “verification”:** A website asks you to enter your recovery phrase to “validate,” “sync,” “restore” or “verify” your wallet.
* **Unsolicited support:** A supposed support agent contacts you first or asks for remote access to your device.
* **Unexpected rewards:** A token or NFT directs you to a website to claim a prize. Receiving it doesn't give the sender access to your wallet, but following its links or signing transactions can put your funds at risk. * **Unexpected approvals:** An app requests permission to spend your tokens. Review what you’re authorizing before signing.
* **Recovery offers:** Someone promises to recover lost or stolen funds in exchange for payment.
